Interpersonal Communication in The Breakfast Club The characters in the The Breakfast Club show a variety of different interpersonal methodologies and social behaviors as means of communication. Although the majority of the film features individual members of the group egging each other on, scaring each others, the group was able to find common ground through their general loathing of being in Saturday detention finally. They also find the way to communicate with each other and get along through music, weed, and talking about how much their parents suck. The five characters were full of anxiety but that does not invalidate it from the study on interpersonal communication study. One thing that both of them undoubtedly have in common was they're all emotional. The five students are inexperienced about emotional express and each of them expresses strongly characteristics of emotional at the end of the film. At the beginning they hate each other, then they become friends and finally four of them fall in love, except Brain. Brian is a wimpy, smart and honest student. John Bender a bad boy, but his father who often abuses him. Claire is a little princess. And Allison is friendless and strange. These children would never get together without the Saturday detention. As the film progresses, the group certainly talks to pass the time, mostly about inappropriate conversation by John, but they don’t actually start listening to each other until they found a similarity in each other. The task-oriented listening that we offer an a courtesy to strangers gradually developed into relational listening, which is how these friendships began taking their form through eventual deconstruction of each person’s physical, role, and interaction social constructs.
