When developing a good five year career plan I had to ask myself where, I wanted to be in five years. This question would be critical for my future. When I was in school in thought, I knew my career path. I was convince I was going to become a nurse. As years past, I found myself moving away from nursing and interested in teaching. However, my transition would not be as smooth as once believed. The more I plan and believe I am fully equipped for the future, something happens that I did not plan for and totally catches me by surprise. I try to implement provisions in my career plan that will help my handle the unforeseen issues by having a savings account as well as an emergency fund. I make sure all family members have life insurance, and I have a living well in place to handle my affairs in case of my death. This are hard issues to handle but must be done to ensure my family will be able to function financially.
A self-assessment of myself helps me identify areas that I may need improvement. Just last year my husband was laid off from his job. This was unexpected and took the family by surprise. With no plan in place and it was a very stressful time. However, we my husband and I was not quitter. We started brainstorming a plan to help our situation. After decreasing the bills and changing some daily activates my husband and I made one income work.

I currently have a certificate of certified nursing aide, emergency medical technician basic, and Basic life-support certificate. I am proficient with Microsoft Office XP, Windows, 95, 98, 2000, 2003, 2007, Word Processing, Excel, PowerPoint, Word Perfect, typing 40-50 wmp and internet applications, fax and copying machine.
