on January 30, 1882, a legacy was born in Hyde park, new york. franklin D. Roosevelt was him. His parents were Sara Roosevelt and James Roosevelt I. Franklin had an older half brother named James Roosevelt from his father’s first marriage. James didn’t have much thrive to become someone and succeed like Franklin D. Roosevelt. Franklin was smarter because he spend his time and money trying to become someone great while his brother would just travel the world and have a lay back life style. He was the only child growing up so all the attention was on him and his education. Franklin's parents were fairly wealthy for many generations and also often important in the civic affairs of New York. After he decided to nominate himself as a U.S senator of New York and was a four time governor of New York which led him to run for Democratic president. He was able to be elected for presidency in 1932. When he was the president he helped many people that were unemployed by giving them work and increasing the income to farmers; the banks that were closed all over the country reopened and the crisis Herbert Hoover left was fixed. In the year of 1921, at the age of 39 he found out he had poliomyelitis, but he showed strength by regaining the use of his legs with swimming. He stayed for four terms in office until his death came on April 12,1945 from a artery ruptured in his brain. Franklin D. Roosevelt served as president from 1933 to 1945 which is the longest term in history a president has stayed in office. His responses to the challenges he faced with Germany, Japan and the Great Depression showed his strength and how he doesn’t back down when America is at it’s worst. Americans had hope in him that he will bring back hope to our nation and that’s why we the people chose
