In Freak the Mighty by Rodman Philbrick, a young boy named Kevin, faces a lot of social exclusion. Similarly, The Outcasts of 19 Schuyler Place by E.L. Konigsberg, a young lady named Margaret Kane, also faces social issues. Both characters face similar social issues, like bullying. Margaret chooses not to participate in some of the activities from her camp, while Kevin has a disease, which means that he cannot participate in some of the activities. Kevin has a disease, Morquio Syndrome, which makes the inner part of the body grow, but the outside does not grow. Because of this disease, he cannot participate in a lot of activities because his lungs are too big for his body. Also, he gets bullied, so he and his next-door neighbor fight the bullies
