In The Outsiders, by S.E Hinton’s, there are two main gangs that you author mentions. The Socs that are the more accepted of the two rivalry gangs. They have money, social ranking, and privilege. There are also the greasers, they aren’t the wise ones of the gangs. They are mostly drop outs, fighters, and low lives. They also don’t get along together. In my opinion the greasers are the ones that aren’t as accepted by society, this is because of class, privilege, publicity. Class is something that all of our mothers want us to have, and since most of the greasers don’t have a good family they also don’t have the best mother, they don’t have much class. The Socs are born in a neighborhood of love and peace. Their parents provide them with shelter and food. The greasers are the group that is less loved, they don’t have a family to support them and if they do it’s a family with a bad reputation. The greasers also have to get low paying jobs, like with Soda and the gas station. So overall the Socs have a lot more privilege and it gives them a good place in society. The greasers don’t get that much good publicity. The only good publicity was when Johnny, Ponyboy, and Dally saved the kids from the burning fire. They will be accused and will be attacked through it. As you can possibly see the Socs are the more accepted of the two gangs. They have more class, privilege, and publicity. The greasers have it rough and will probably always have it. I don’t ever think the two gangs will ever for too long get along together. But if the people stop using their eyes to judge, and the media stop using they’re wants to judge maybe the greasers can be more accepted by society. Maybe they might just not always be the menacing of the two
