Good Country People Meaning

The title, which is "Good Country People" is tossed around a lot in the story. However, I have seen each character act differently throughout the story. The characters are normal human beings, that sin like everyone else. In "Good Country People" by Flannery O' Connor, the significance of the title is that the four main characters Mrs. Hopewell, Mrs. Freeman, Joy and Manley Pointer all have faults, reasons and have shown actions to how they are not really "Good Country People".
Mrs. Hopewell is the mother of Joy/Hulga and she owns a farm. She runs a farm by herself, which people works for her and usually do not last a year. I personally feel like it mostly because of her and her attitude. Mrs. Hopewell thinks better than her employees. She also think she sees people good and bad side, but she did not know Manley Pointer was not "Good Country People". Manley Pointer filled Mrs. Hopewell's head up with a bunch of lies and the main one is that he is a bible salesman. So, Mrs Hopewell tells Manley Pointer that "My daughter is an atheist and won't let me keep the bible in my parlor". (O' Connor 376) This

She has an artificial leg that was shot off at the age 10, while hunting. She have a doctoral degree in philosophy. She has a very bad attitude. "Woman! Do you ever look inside? Do you ever look inside and see what you are not? God!" Talking to her mother like that do not make her "Good Country People, at all. She thinks she better and smarter than others. She even lied about her age at first.Her original name was Joy, but she changed her name without her mother being aware and to the ugliest name she could think of just to get under her mother skin. Hulga met Manley Pointer the bible salesman and they get to talking and takes her to a barn. Her purpose was to try to seduce and get him to have sex, because she thought he was so religious an into God and stuff. Her trick did not turn out how she expected. The joke was on
