Another way Hammurabi has accidentally proved his laws unjust is in his property laws. Law 21 states that if a man is caught breaking into a house he will be hung in the hole he made or pierced until he dies (Doc D). This punishment seems too harsh to be carried out. The man could have broken into the house for reasons unknown to us. The people on the opposing side of this argument will tell you the laws were kept in the middle of the city, the man knew what the punishment was but we have to remember most people back then were illiterate. One more way Hammurabi’s laws are unjust is in Law 48 which states that if a man borrows money to start a farm and a storm washes away his crops, he doesn’t have to repay the creditor. This is unfair
