This story has a big impact on the reader because of the different components it depicts. One of the most outstanding elements within the story is the emotions characters show towards the main character. The main character was a drowned man named esteban who was found near shore in a small village. The feelings people in the story portray towards the main character are admiration, jealousy, and mourning.

Marquez initially acquainted with the sentiment adoration which was communicated by the ladies in the town. The ladies in this story were astounded by this suffocated man who was found in the sea close to their town.
