The word renaissance means rebirth and The Harlem Renaissance was the development of the Harlem neighborhood in New York City as a Black cultural mecca in the early 20th Century and the subsequent social and artistic explosion that resulted. The movement began in 1918 and continued until 1937. Its most productive period was in the 1920s, as the movement's vitality suffered during the Great Depression. The Harlem Renaissance was an intellectual and cultural revival of African American music, dance, art, fashion, literature, theater, politics, and scholarship centered in Harlem. The other spouse was named Leonard George Hayton. He married her in 1935, and they split up in 1940. he died on April the 24th, 1971. he was born on February 14, 1908, she had two kids, one named Gail Lumet Buckley who was born on December 21, 1937, she’s 86 years old and she’s still alive. she had another kid, his name was Edwin Jones. He was born on February 7, 1940 and died when he was 30 in September 1970. Lena attended Girls High School, an all-girls public high school in Brooklyn that has now become Boys and Girls High School. She dropped out with a diploma, and her father, Edwin Fletcher "Teddy" Horne Jr., born June 15, 1893, and died April 18, 1970, a one-time owner of a hotel and restaurant, was a gambler he and his partner, the gambler and philanthropist Gus Greenlee, owned the Belmont Hotel on Wylie Avenue and ran the numbers racket in "the Hill in the Hill District of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where Lena came to live with him from age 18 until her matrimony the next year. Lena Horne died of congestive heart failure at age 92 on May 9,
