Harriet Tubman was a very, very brave girl. At a young age she had an idea to escape slavery. I am going to compare and contrast two passages that are about Harriet escaping.

The first passage I read was called The Women Called Moses. In 1835, Bucktown, Maryland a young black girl who was fifteen at the time had a turning and life changing moment. She had a secret idea to escape slavery. She wanted liberty so bad. So she chose to fight till death until she was free. She even quoted herself that “ slavery was the next thing to hell.”

The second passage I read was called Leaders of the Civil War Era: Harriet Tubman. This passage goes right into the Civil War. Abraham Lincoln had not abolished slavery. Tubman was in her late
