Introduction The number of diseases has increased recently which has led to increasing the medical treatment expenses today. Therefore, different plans are available in the United States to provide medical healthcare. Mainly, there are two government-funded programs that reach millions of Americans to get medical assistance; Medicare and Medicaid. Each program provides assistance to pay for healthcare and medical expenses. Although many people might think that they are the same, the benefits, eligibility requirements, and costs for each program are different. Overall, Medicare is designed to help and provide care for the elderly, while Medicaid helps people who cannot afford the cost of the medical care.

To achieve this goal, the government offers lower prices on government health insurance plans and they also try to give more people the Medicaid assistance. Furthermore, the government reviews and changes the rules and forces the insurance providers to follow these new rules. For instance, insurance companies cannot refuse coverage or increase the insurance policy to anyone with a pre-existing medical condition, such as diabetes.
