The amount that which American popular culture influenced Australian society between 1950 and 1960 is a large amount. Society was changed during the 50’s decade through various American cultures such as Food, Fashion, Music and Technology. Social changes came about as a result of America’s influence over the Australian society as America was seen as the conducting country that was proficient of persuading countries to follow the American society’s trends.
The American society has influenced our society in many ways, one being the food between 1950 and 1960. Australia was influenced by America’s food from the year 1950 to 1958. At the start of 1950, Australia got influenced by America by the Jell-O Instant Pudding and Dunkin’ Donuts. Now, Dunkin’ Donuts will not rather be similar to our Krispy Kreme, but it would be similar to Starbucks as they are both like coffee shops. In 1952, Sugar frosted flakes got introduced and KFC. And in 1953, Frozen TV Dinners had been introduced. In 1954, Burger King and the one we ALWAYS see around, McDonald’s. In our country, the name Burger King changed to “Hungry Jacks”. In 1957, Sweet’ N Low had been introduced by America which influenced Australia. Lastly, the year 1958, which introduced Jif Peanut Butter and Pizza Hut, were many of us get our pizzas from. Pizza Hut is all around Australia. It is one of the most popular shops to get pizza from in Australia.
