I've been in the situation in which a friend needed an answer for a test. I didn't mind sharing it with her for it was only once. When I won't help is when someones asks constantly. In math class an acquaintance would always hit my desk to get me to scoot over so she could see, not giving me a chance to even write my name. Waterford High school’s cheating policy is very straightforward. If your caught you get a zero, and may get suspended or expelled. However, teachers don't really implement the rule or do they catch the cheaters. So, it is common for students to cheat on test and homework. A honors code at Waterford would be hard to establish since a there is a culture of cheating. Therefore, it will be in the school’s best interest to start now. …show more content…
There are moments in class when you see your teacher isn't paying attention, and are tempted to ask for help. However, integrity is doing the right thing even when no one is looking. Students need learn to be more disciplined in doing what is right versus what is easy. According to a research study done at Rutgers University, “students at colleges with honor codes — typically student-enforced — cheat less than their counterparts elsewhere do”(source C). The honor code holds students to a higher standard, and causes them to think twice before cheating. Students know that there are certain students that are willing to accuse them of cheating. Knowing this, the students may choose to not cheat in the presence of this student and realize it can be done. Thus, slowly changing the environment “where students and faculty could live in complete trust of one another”(source B). The school will then be sending students to college with a high moral
