Hoops for Heart
Hoops for Heart is a national education and fundraising event sponsored by the American Heart Association and the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD).
The mission statement for Hoops for Heart would be to provide programs that promote physical education and provide children with knowledge of heart disease and stroke while raising funds for cardiovascular disease research, stroke research, and health education
Hoops for Heart is needed to help support those that are in need of help and provide children with a fun and easy way to contribute.
There are 5 main goals and objectives that are expected to be completed throughout each Hoops for Heart program. First would be that kids learn …show more content…
Promotion for hoops for heart was lead by Student Government Association. This was a school wide event that everyone participated in so everyone knew information. Flyers were distributed to be sent home during classes. Hoops for heart information was announced daily on school broadcast and news station. Flyers also were posted throughout halls and within classroom.
Hoops for Heart is a fundraising event. The goal is for students to raise money. Students that wanted to participate raised money and were able to play in the event. All money raised funds research and educational programs that impact community.
In order to register for this event students had to inform any staff member that they had an interests in participating. Staff then sends home registration forms and fundraising packet home with the student in order to be completed by parent or guardian. Registration forms and fundraising packets were submitted by the student.
Mainly all staff for this event are teachers that work within the school. There was very little parent and volunteer involvement. Athletic coaches led most activities so they were well equipment with skills to guide students.
