Ronald Reagan was the 40th president of the United States of America from the years 1981 until 1989 and was also, a Republican President. Before, Ronald Reagan became president he was a Hollywood actor in his 20s and served as a Republican governor of California in, 1966. Later, while Ronald Reagan became an official president, he inherited America in horrible shape. The reason being was because, America had very high ranks of unemployment, underemployed, human population, and immigration. Not only was there high ranks in America but a war was still taking place, the Cold War. The Cold War had been happening for 44 years straight and America had been spending lots of money on this war. Ronald Reagan had to make many decisions in order to lift America back into shape again.

For example, he made the Cold War end. He ended this war by making peace with the Soviet Leader, Mikhail Gorbachev. The peaceful resolution was made by having four summit meetings with the leader Mikhail Gorbachev. The four meetings were created because, Ronald Reagan did not want to make the relationship between the Soviet Union and America even worse. At first, Mikhail Gorbachev did not agree with the idea of ending the Cold War but then an agreement was announced. Since, both countries did not trust each other with nuclear weapons the agreement was to reduce the amount of nuclear weapons in both countries. A company named, “Intermediate-Range Nuclear Force” the biggest company of nuclear weapons in America was discontinued. After, the agreement of reducing nuclear weapons, both leaders signed a treaty called the “Gorbachev for the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty” also known as “START”.
