The way the societies established hierarchies enabled them to have a secure way of maintaining their economic status, political power and social order . The Aztec hierarchy was very powerful and is a sustainable reason how they gained social order. The Aztecs were born into their roles and and everyone had to do there job as told or would be sacrificed to the gods. This stable hierarchy maintained their power through this time period, and stayed strong for a long period of time. During the Edo period the Shogun ruled the country, and their hierarchy was very precise and strict. Just like the Aztecs the Japanese were born into their social class, and had to do that job even if they liked it or not. When emperor Meiji took over the hierarchy became less intense. Many people liked it the way the hierarchy was during the Edo period, and many people liked it the way it was in the Meiji period. Japan lost some economic power due to the fairly large changes in hierarchy. Finally, in the Renaissance, the hierarchy was based on hereditary just like the other societies.
