The American Revolution also known as the U.S. War of Independence, a conflict had arose between Great Britain and the colonies. The colonies rejected the British monarchy and overthrew Great Britain, thus resulting in the America that we have come to know today. This political upheaval during 1765 and 1783 arose when the British parliament began to tax and enforce new laws that affected the American colonists, the British did this without any representation from the government. The colonists revolted against this action, they held protests, such as the Boston Tea Party in 1773, the colonists recklessly dumped $18,000 worth of taxed tea into the Boston Harbor. Many rebelled while others aligned with the British, they agreed with the main strategy of Britain in the revolutionary war, they were able to capture all the cities and force the colonists out. The massacre was a result of high tensions between the Britain and the colonists. In this the soldiers were looked at as enemies, they were seen as evil and evil must be destroyed. However this is a misinterpretation the soldiers did not mean any harm towards the colonists unless provoked. Theses British soldiers were following the orders they were given. The colonists should not necessarily be looked at as the good guy either, they began a riot “On March 5, 1770, a crowd of Boston boys and men surrounded a number of British soldiers and began taunting and cursing them while they pelted them with snowballs” (document 3). These frighten soldier did begin firing their guns into the crowd leaving five colonists dead and some wounded. However the British soldiers never had any intention on bring harms upon anyone, if they had the intentions on harming and or killing the colonist in this riot they definitely could
