The Industrial revolution was a period of time that led to the national growth in the history of the United States. During the Industrial revolution many things were impacted in the United States such as the economy and the territorial expansion prior to the civil war. Such examples of this would be transportation, communication, agriculture, urbanization and also the idea of the Manifest Destiny. Much of these ideas contributed to the growth to what the United States has come to today. First, when the industrial revolution started, transportation was one of the major developments that occurred in the United States. What came first was the developments of the steamboat. Many farmers wanted a faster more efficient ways to ship their goods directly so Robert Fulton took this into mind and created the steamboat. He amazed everyone in 1807 with his steamboat the Clermont by making the 150 mile trip from the Hudson river in New York to Albany New York in around 32 hours. Now that the west was more accessible from the east people began to move out west more in hopes of either gaining land or striking it rich. Many were drawn to the west because they were unexplored lands and many adventures waited for them out there. Many believed also that it was America’s destiny to conquer all land from east to west on the continent, this is what led to the manifest destiny and the war with Mexico. Many roads were built such as the national road which made the west more accessible by land.
These are only a few things that impacted the United States during the Industrial revolution. These are also some of the many reasons for the national growth in the United States.
