How Does Daisy Come Alone In The Great Gatsby

At the beginning of the story all Daisy cared about was capturing everyone's attention. As time passes, and the story progresses, she comes into contact with Gatsby again. “Are you in love with me?” asks Daisy, “Or why did I have to come alone?” (90), she had no idea of Gatsby’s intentions. Daisy does not know how to handle Tom and Gatsby’s love for her, which led to a death of an innocent bystander. “I felt the shock- it must have killed her instantly” (151). Daisy has many different moments when she is worried about what will happen with her relationship with Tom and Gatsby. Tom and Daisy have a unique relationship. Tom is having an affair with Myrtle and then discovers that Gatsby is not dead, she begins to believe that getting a divorce with Tom is what is best, “The only crazy I was when I married him. I knew right away I made a mistake.” (39). A divorce was highly frowned upon and forced Daisy to continue their ‘relationship’. We learn that Daisy has realized this when she found out that she had given birth to a girl. Daisy’s response was not that she hopes for her to be smart, intelligent, but “And I hope she’ll be a fool- that the best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool” (21). Daisy begins to get too smart for her own good, at the beginning of the book Daisy realizes that being married to Tom and being in an affair with Gatsby would work. As the story unfolds Daisy begins to realize who her true love is and whom she really wants to be with but she continues to go back and forth with Tom and Gatsby.
