America is based on the freedoms we receive that other countries don't. Peaceful resistance to law can positively impact society as a whole. For example the march in Washington where black and white Americans marched side by side in peaceful protest to bring to light the social injustice african Americans faced even after emancipation. Even today there is peaceful protest for the rights of African Americans. However that does not guarantee that everyone is positively impacted by the protest. As well as the fact that peaceful protest can cause death in areas where views are extremely conflicted. If America is so free then peaceful protest should not be a problem. When he disobey the law and allow for the consequences it makes us think if we should change laws and regulations and that's how we change our society for the better. When we adapt to the way American people are adapting we better the country. When we let fear take over and it starts to become violent that's when peaceful resistance becomes a negative impact on society and it cannot be even called peaceful resistance anymore. As stated by Mr. Liebman, "No society whether free or tyrannical can give its citizens the 'right' to break the law.
