The necessity of power can be overwhelming, but one should be careful of what they wished for, because that might become the cause of their downfall. This is exceptionally true in the play Macbeth that was written by William Shakespeare. The man, Macbeth, was a general of a Scottish army which where visited by three Witches after the Bloodshed of the war. These Witches granted a prophecy that Macbeth will become king of Scotland. Encouragement from his wife, Lady Macbeth, -Macbeth seeks out to Murder King Duncan. Macbeth is a tragic hero who compromise his honor and deny moral responsibilities to gain power as king. Basically Macbeth is saying, if he were to do it, he must do it quick and by not preventing any consequences would put his soul and the afterlife at risk. All Things Considered those are just examples from Act 1 of Macbeth being desperate, and the start of his deterioration. Macbeth himself was the thane of Glamis & of Cawdor, Also the general of the Scottish army, but he still wants to gain more power. In Act 3, Scene 1, Macbeth orders the murderers to kill Banquo and his son to ensure that none of Banquo’s family could take the throne after Macbeth to reserve his seat as king. This shows how greedy Macbeth has become after achieving the Crown of the highest honors. Then in Act 4, Macbeth sent out the murderers to kill MacDuff because of the Witches appropriation of Macduff’s existence. Macbeth greedily taking anyone's life to gain / maintain power. Well Macduff wasn’t home when the murderers came by their secret hideout making the murderer is kill his wife and children. But it wasn’t the murderers fault, Macbeth became ruthless and have told the murderers a lie to get rid of Macduff. Which represents more greediness. But his greed inflated when he first murdered the Old King [King Duncan] which wouldn't have happened if his wife [Lady Macbeth] didn't encourage Macbeth to do such an act to become king.
