Why Kids Need Recess? Research has clearly shown that recess has a positive effect both socially and intellectually on K-12 student academic experience. There are three broad categories that these experiences fall into. Recess will give the brain a break from working nonstop. The brain needs to rest to reduce stress and laziness. Recess will help improve social skills. Most children lack the skills to make friends or talk in person. Recess will give that training and experience and will work if the time is used correctly. Recess will also reduce the obesity rate and help keep students in physical shape. Children who are physically in shape will be able to get athletic scholarships. They will also be more successful and healthy. These are the three broad categories that recess benefits. The first category, giving the brain a break from working nonstop, has many benefits. One of the benefits is that students will be less fidgety. If children are less fidgety then it will be less of a problem for teacher. Children who are fidgety tend to get in more trouble, but most people don’t know that they just need to get out for a break. Giving the brain a break once in a while also improves memory. Improved memory will positively affect test results. It will also lead to more job opportunities. Giving the brain a break for a little while also help to be more focused on task when you resume work. This works because after your brain has been stressing all nonstop work, your brain becomes lazier and feels overworked. If you give your brain a break from all of that, afterwards you will feel relieved and even feel good about returning to work. The second category, help improve social skills, many benefits. Improving social skills opens the doors to learn negotiation skills. Children who learn negotiation skills will be useful to society later in the future. The benefits of recess will also exercise leadership. We need more leaders with a good background and will also help other children. Children will also teach games, and this is important because it will open up a child’s imagination. Children will also learn to take turns. Children may learn to resolve conflicts. Children who learn to resolve conflict will be good influences on other children and will give them advice for other problems. Children learning these benefits will improve their future when they graduate high school or college. These are the types of benefits that school can’t teach. These benefits will not only help them in their future, but it will also help them make better and smarter friends throughout their k-12 career. These are the benefits of improving social skills. The third category, reducing obesity rate and help keep students in physical shape, will have many benefits. One of the many benefits will be that recess will build the foundation to be physically active as adults. This will be important because as adults, being healthy will give you a happier life with fewer or maybe no illness at all. Another benefit will be that kids will be more active before and after school. Children who are active before school will have a smoother day and will be more focused. Children who are also more active after school will lead up to a positive attitude and increased chances that homework will be done. Children will also get into sports when they’re older and they could possibly make a career out of that…
