Infertility & Egg Donation With so many unwanted children in the U.S. foster care system, paying an egg donor and infertility clinics thousands of dollars is greedy and immoral when there are thousands of children who need a home. There is much controversy surrounding the world of infertility and egg donation, but most couples look at it as their last chance to have a baby before they move onto adoption. When trying to conceive children, most women and men never dream there could be issues within their reproductive system, which could prevent them from having a family. There are two degrees of infertility (ABC Health). The first degree of infertility is subfertility. Subfertility is when eggs and sperm are produced, but hormone imbalances and reproductive tract issues prevent implantation (ABC Health). The second degree is total infertility. Total infertility is when no eggs or sperm are produced (ABC Health). Infertility has become a rising issue with couples. Unfortunately, "one of six couples are infertile" (ABC Health). Forty percent of infertility issues with couples deal with issues of the female (ABC Health). These issues often deal with ovulation disorders, fallopian tube damage, uterus and cervical disorders, endometriosis, polycystic ovaries, ovarian failure, and aging (ABC Health). The first step for an egg donor is to be accepted into the program through an online application.
