1) Introduction a) Asthma affects about 24.6 million people in the United States alone. b) I think that people should be aware of asthma because it can actually be caused by smoking around younger kids and most people are diagnosed with asthma at a young age. c) I think I am qualified to share this information because my brother, who is 5 years old, has had asthma since he was about 3 years old and I've gained the knowledge throughout the years to help him know what going on that he might have to know. d) I am here to inform you guys about asthma, how it affect someone, and things that can help you prevent an asthma attack or help someone during an attack. 2) What is asthma? e) Asthma is a long lasting inflammatory disease that affects a person's airways. It causes your airways to become narrow as a result, your body's cells begin to burn oxygen at fast rates. This usually causes wheezing or loss of breath. f) Transition: Now that you know what asthma is, here are some things that affect people with asthma. 3) How it affects someone g) It causes a person to have a lot of responsibilities.
