In The End of Eddy, Eddy is constantly faced with insults. From being harassed for being gay to too feminine and too skinny, there is little in his life that he is not insulted for. Eddy attempts to rectify all of these “faults” others find in him so he can fit in: he tries having two relationships with girls, tries to make himself a “tough guy”, and gains fifty pounds in a year. In all three of these instances, Eddy is shown to have been so harmed by the insults that he is willing to go to painful means to try and rectify the traits he was insulted for.
