One of our most famous ancient heroes in history is the one and only Hercules. In the story Hercules plays a heroic role in the story by completing all the ridiculous labors for Eurystheus. Some labors require bravery, determination, and some could save people’s lives. The reason for him doing these labors was because Hercules is trying to atone his sins declared by Apollo. Hercules is a hero with a bad childhood growing up, being driven mad by his stepmom Hera mad him go crazy and kill his wife and kids. For those reasons this is why he did the twelve labors. First event and the second event what it took to do these labors was bravery. This included saving men lives from being eaten by birds. Labor six is The Stymphalian Birds and they were extremely dangerous, possibly killing men with their brass feathers, or even eating them. In order to stop or kill these birds, Hercules climbed up a high mountain and yelled so he could startle the birds. While flying away he kills them with his bow and arrow. In labor eleven The Apples of the Hesperides another life in the story that Hercules save and that is Prometheus. He had angered the gods and is tied to a mountain where an eagle came every day to eat his liver, which in fact grew back every night as well. Heracles showed up and killed the eagle. In appreciation, Prometheus told Heracles how to get the apples. In conclusion Hercules was a hero in this story because the stuff he went through just to atone his sins. He is so brave he didn’t care about losing his life, he was so determining he didn’t care what was impossible, and he was so caring that he saved others that could have been eaten.
