On 03/12/2018, I, Chad Agnew, was working as a Police Sergeant for the Wichita State University Police Department, in Wichita, Sedgwick County, Kansas. At approximately 1811 hours I was contacted by dispatcher Ryan Brice to call Chief Hinshaw on his cell phone.

I called Chief Hinshaw immediately and he told me that I needed to call Kathryn Hull's family and give a death notification. He explained that most of them probably already knew but we needed to verify that their immediate family knows because the news was going to do a media release at some point in time. He asked me to call him back after I notified family members to let him know.

I started trying to find different family members names and contact information using different record systems but wasn't having any luck with a working phone number. I asked for Ryan Brice (dispatcher) to assist me in obtaining contact information. He told me that a niece of Kathryn …show more content…
I wasn't sure on the exact time frame but I would guess about 20 to 30 minutes after hanging up with Morgan. The person on the phone told me they were Ram Hull and that Mike told him to call me. I told Ram that we were sorry for their loss. Ram thanked me and said that all the family has been notified and we could do a press release. He wanted to know several details about the accident such as was his mom in the crosswalk? Was the driver texting and driving? I explained to Ram that I didn't know the specific details of the accident and I didn't work the accident. I gave Ram the records phone number and told him to call records and see if he could get a copy of the report when it was ready. I explained they might have to redact some information on the report such as personal information and he said he understood. He said he would come up to the police station on 3-13-18 to get a copy of the police report. We ended the conversation and I told Ram that if he needed anything to call
