Before I started IDM I had mixed emotions about it, as it was going into the unknown and see the other side of policing from what I had experienced in the 10 weeks prior to the starting. One thing I was looking forward to on IDM was being able to investigate an incident to the end, as this will allow me to make better decisions when responding to initial incidents as I will have an understanding where the investigation will be going. Also before starting IDM I was nervous as I felt like that there would be a lot I would have to know and do with just the 1 week training course I had prior to starting. I was apprehensive about the paperwork side of the role; the forms were all going to be new to me and all things that I had not experienced before.

Since starting IDM I have really enjoyed myself and the investigation I have been involved in. I have seen my confidence grow more and more after being exposed to many different investigations. The suspect was a well-known nominal and was on licence with over 2 years still to serve on it. When in interview the suspect was volatile and very uncooperative. I managed to stay calm throughout and managed to keep asking the questions that I wanted to ask. After interview I collated all the evidence that I had and presented it to CPS. I then got the result back from them stating to charge the suspect with all 4 offences. I then completed a remand application for the suspect as he is a prolific offender and offended a number of times of bail. This application was successful and has been remanded in custody till his trail at crown court. I particularly enjoyed dealing with this investigation as I have a strong interest in traffic policing and an area I would like to purse in my
