There are a lot of things that can dictate a person's opportunity and outcome of life but their location and resources play a major part in it. If a country's government is weak but strong in resources it puts a target on them for other countries that have a much stable and stronger government. This can affect the outcome and opportunities in a person's life depending on what happens when they are invaded or attacked. A person might not have many opportunities like Ishmael Beah, whom had the option to fight and kill or to flee. This affects the outcome of someone's life tremendously. They could have mutilation, be addicted to drugs or even have ptsd. A less developed location with good resources is more open to stronger countries taking control of them because they hae easily accessible resources worth a lot of money and their governments aren't stable enough to fight back. …show more content…
He lived in a country with a very unstable government who had a very accessible resource, diamonds. The government was so unstable that a huge civil war began. He was forced into the army as a child soldier and was forced to take drugs and kill people. Right away ismail didnt have alot of oppurtunities in his life because he was forced into war at such a young age. Being hooked on drugs and going through what he did and seeing what he saw affects your outcome of life. He would later flee his country and begin going through a lot of rehab because of all the things he had gone through. So as you can see a person's location and available resources can play a major factor in the outcome of one's life.(Ishmael
