Jackie Robinson was one of the most famous African-American baseball players. He was born January 31, in Cairo, Georgia to Jerry and Mallie Robinson. Jackie was the youngest of all his mother’s children. As A child he moved to Pasadena, California where he later in life went to Pasadena Junior College. He played for sports: basketball, football, track, and baseball He was influenced by his older brother Matthew and his love of sports.
In 1941, despite his athletic success, Robinson was forced to leave UCLA just shy of graduation due to financial hardship.
