John F. Kennedy’s inaugural address was in 1961. There are 3 pieces of evidence given about JFK’s inauguration address. The inaugural address, the article titled “Inside Kennedy’s Inauguration, 50 Years On”, and an image of Kennedy receiving the Oath to Office are the 3 texts that have similarities within them but also have differences. These documents all impact the legacy of John Fitzgerald Kennedy. All 3 texts inform the audience, which is everyone in the world about what his inaugural address was about and who was there. The documents talking about JFK all make them similar. These all convey the legacy of JFK because in the second document it states that “... while Kennedy’s presidency was brief, his impact endures.” This means that his way of being president has left a legacy to this day. Some of the laws or rules that JFK made are still used to this day. The Differences are the different set of appeals and devices used in each of the texts. By the way this was written you can see a serious and formal tone. Ethos and Pathos can be easily identified because the pathos is used by Kennedy to try to make his audience feel and consider what they can do for their country which is America. Pathos are shown because Kennedy is saying, “... ask not what you can do for you, but what you can do for your country.” Ethos is demonstrated when JFK states, “My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man.” The image of the Inaugural Address taken by the US Army Signal Corps shows logos because it is a fact that this event happened.
