The fascinating journey of John Milton begins with his birth on December 9, 1608 in London from Sarah Jeffery and her lover John Milton Sr. He lived in a comfortable home with two siblings, a brother Christopher and a sister Anne, and a neighborhood of merchants. They eventually acquired a second home in the country. Growing up, Milton had not been subjected to a certain religion because he father had derived from a Catholic family but was a puritan himself. John Milton attended St. Paul’s School which was binded to the great cathedral with the same name. During his time in school, Milton studied the ternary of rhetoric, logic, and grammar and had most likely been exposed to the quadrumvirate of geometry, astronomy, music, and mathematics. Learning Latin, French, Italian, Greek and Hebrew was also an important aspect of Milton’s early life, seeing how the one language he did not practice was English. After high school, Milton began attending Christ's College, Cambridge in 1625. He graduated in 1629 with a Bachelor’s of Arts degree but came back to receive his Master’s of Arts degree in July of 1632. Five years after his graduation from college, his mother devastatingly passed away, potentially of the plague.
