King David
David was the second king of the United Kingdom of Israel and Judah, which means he ruled over the Jews and Israelites. He reigned for 40 years. During his time as a king, he had done many things. He was a great warrior, he was a man of God, he shared the word of God, but what people focus the most on, is the aspect of being a great warrior. David slew thousands and thousands of people in war, which led him to be respected more. Becoming a king was not easy, but he knew his time would come.
David was the youngest of eight brothers, had 2 sisters, a father named Jesse, and an unnamed mother. Since David was the youngest and weakest he was often left in the dust by his older brothers. David already did have power while he was young, because he was a shepherd. He ruled over the sheep an protected them with his slingshot. At the time, the king of Israel was King Saul. But one man in particular came up front. The man was huge, that man, was Goliath. Goliath came forward and said that they must choose a person to fight against him, if that person where to kill him and chop of his head, they will become their subject, but if he killed the man, they where to become subjects and servants. The Israelites where scared. Meanwhile, back at David`s house, his father told him to bring this food to three older brothers who followed Saul to war. So David walked to the camp where his brothers where and gave it to them. David talked to them and heard about Goliaths order, so he went to King Saul and asked him if he could do it. Saul refused but David replied I am a shepherd, I protect my sheep. There was once a lion and a bear going for my sheep, so I grabbed there hair pulled it, and killed. For anything I know, I could have died doing that, but the lord was with me. Saul nodded his head and said that he could
