If one were to ask, who was one of the most recognized and influential rulers of the Byzantine Empire, one of course has to take a glimpse at Justinian. Born in 1482, Justinian not only helped the angelic art at the time, but left his legacy in many ways. It all began when he was called to lead in place of the passed emperor, by the senate. It goes without saying, that was when the start of Justinian the Great‘s era began. This was around the time of 527 till his death in 565, which was an impressive 40 year reign! Now many say, that in his time as a ruler, Justinian brought massive territory expansion as well as military triumph. However, he also was most known for bringing back many important religious artifacts, along with aiding to mold the Church Policy.
But, that doesn’t mean there wasn’t trouble during his reign, as many leaders he struggled. His struggle, was referred to as the Nika Revolt. Which began in January 11-19 in 1532, but too much dismay, various religious artifacts were burnt in revolt. A true tragedy indeed, however in light of this, Justinian vowed to rebuild some of the most precious structures and artifacts that were lost in the flames. It is also thought to be that she helped him to have create many of the liberal rights that were given to women at that time and still used today. From freedom of divorce to property rights, it appears that Justinian the great chose a wife just as great as he. Theodora herself, was born in 500 AD, into one of the lowliest of classes and struggled for most of her teenage years.
