A tree can hold in forty eight pounds of carbon dioxide a year and will accumulate up to a tonne by the time it reaches forty (“Tree Facts”). They go through a process called photosynthesis very frequently. Photosynthesis allows the tree to absorb carbon dioxide and turn it into sugars and oxygen. This makes them very essential for recycling our waste and converting it into food and fresh air. There are billions of trees in the world, about sixty one trees per person (“Going out…”). Knowing this, these numbers seem incredible but take into account that the carbon footprint of the average person is becoming emergent and so as the amount of trees they consume. The average American uses seven trees a year and most of them are for commercial products (Winters, 26). …show more content…
Before the discovery of fossil fuels, the world was in perfect condition, equal in carbon and oxygen production (NASA). We are now overwhelming trees in two ways, by throwing large amounts of carbon waste into the environment and cutting trees down. Since trees can store carbon in it, destroying them in any way will release it back into the atmosphere (“Global warming solutions…”). After we clear cut the land, it is used for either development of housing or as a land fill most of the time. Developing homes and buildings uses more trees to build and land fills are usually burnt, releasing even more carbon. The increase of temperature from climate change creates wild fires, caused by humans indirectly. Due to this, these wild fires have been getting more destructive every year as the temperature increases, destroying more acres of forest land (Figure
