Nobody really wants to hear what you have to say”- Laurie H. Anderson. In the book ‘speak’ by Laurie Anderson a girl named Melinda went to a party with her ex friends. Something horrible happened, she was raped by Andy Evans. She called the cops making all her friends hate her including the whole school. She makes one friend, a new girl, Heather from ohio. Her art teacher, Mr. Freeman tries to get her to express her feelings in a tree. She doesn't speak, but soon everything comes out about the night at the party. In speak Melinda is a dynamic character. Her lips, mouth and not being able to speak show symbolism and her not being to tell anyone she was raped is an internal conflict.
In the book ‘speak’ by Laurie Anderson, melinda is a dynamic character. For example on page 198 Anderson says “ the tears dissolve the last block of ice in my throat. I feel like the frozen stillness melt down through the inside of me, dripping shards of ice that vanish in a puddle of sunlight on the stained floor. Words float up”. In the other words

Her lips, mouth and not being able to speak shows symbolism and her not being able to tell someone about the rape is an internal conflict. Melinda is a dynamic character because she went from not speaking to speaking to someone. Her lips,mouth and not being able to speak shows symbolism because it’s the way she expresses that she is in pain. An internal conflict was not being able to tell someone about the rape because she was struggling with herself, didn’t know how to speak out about the rape. When Melinda finally speaks out and tells someone it’s heart breaking to know this character went through so much and no one noticed how bad she was
