this is Eromosele, I love Grand Canyon UniversityLead has being a big problem most especially to children because of the damage it can cause, it is worse, most especially when the paint is peeling or chipped or during remodeling. Lead even at a low level can cause health problem. As part of this discussion, Im going to talk about the sources of lead, the way it affects infants, and the problems it can cause to children. The fact that lead is phasing out, it is still available in the homes or community causing a health problem. Infants residential lead exposure are evidents in old homes , environment, soil, and objects baby puts in mouth. Paints are more dangerous when it is chipping or peeling or during remodeling which release lead dust in the air. Paint dust or paint chip is ingested via oral or inhalation during remodeling. Chidren exposed to lead either at home or outside should be tested for lead at the age of 1 to 2 …show more content…
Community exposure can affect the cardiovascular system. The CDC blood lead level for children under the age of six is 10micrograms/dl. The mother of an infant that I interviewed is a 29years old with a degree, she works as a concierge her name is Mrs Sundeep, an Indian decent who claims to have come from a country strongly with environmental pollution, we work in the same establishment; She is married with a 9 month old son, they live in nearly middle class neighborhoods. My topic with her was lead poisoning in infant and she was very attentive and passionate about it, she was educated on sources of lead in infants, complications, prevention, resources available. At the end of the lecture, she was given a chance to ask questions which were answered, a teach back method was done with Mrs Sundeep with a good
