Imagine, you're finally 18, an official adult. You can do all of the things that adults can do. You can vote, you can drive, you can have a job, you can join the military and risk your life for our country, you are an adult. But what is that one adult thing that you can’t do? Drink. Why can’t you drink if you are officially an adult? Shouldn’t you be able to do that? Lowering the drinking age has been a controversial topic for years. There are always two sides to the story, though. On one side, the people believe we should not lower the age because it can cause many problems for the people around us. But on the other side, people believe that we should lower it because it could also help us. The essential question I am researching is, should the minimum legal drinking age be lowered to 18? I am for this because, if we can be adults, then why can’t we drink? On one side of the debate, people say that we should not lower the age to 18 because it can cause problems for the public and the youth. However, this is not true because, it is absolutely critical that we lower the legal drinking age to 18 because, it will stop the illegal drinking accidents, it will help control the drunk driving, and it will not affect students lives in a bad way.
