According to my LSI results my primary thinking style is Affiliative and my back up thinking style is self-actualizing. After reviewing the LSI styles it determined that I live a constructive life style. My primary style which is affiliative, is defined as cooperative, accepts change easily, relaxed, warm, open, well at interpersonal relations just to name a few. I think that my results describe me almost dead on. I think that living an affiliative life-style is something that I do. I have a genuine concern for others. When a relative or a close friend is having personal issues I always tend to lend a helping hand. The reason that I do these things is the fact that I do not like to see others unhappy, or depressed about certain situations at hand. I’m always trying to help someone even if they are not asking for help. Some people may look at that as minding others business, but when the situations are bought to my attention I just feel a need to help. Whenever people need some help rather its financial or something as simple as a car ride to the supermarket, I am always trying to assist with that.
Family members or close friends seem to trust me with a lot personal and financial business. Whenever a situation may arise people are inclined to come to me for advice, mainly because I usually look at things with a fair view. This makes people trust me because I do not take sides; I look at the situation at hand and make a fair assessment.
My backup style which is self-actualizing, and according to LSI it’s defined ad self-respecting, good leader, sound judgment, creative thinker, optimistic and realistic. I really have to agree with those results. I am likely to look at the bright side of things instead of the negative side.
It also states that this type of person likes responsibility. I think that style is me 100%. My perceptions about the 2 styles seem to fit me. I agree with them because I see a lot of my characteristics in my primary and back up thinking styles. I must admit that I am more self-actualizing rather than affiliative.
The one style I think that might be working against me is the approval style. The reason that this style could be working against me is the fact that I am not looking for approval from others. I am not looking to be liked and I don’t agree with everyone. I think that this can have an effect on me professionally because if I don’t have the need to be liked especially by my superiors it can affect me professionally. I need to be liked in order to advance in this world and that is something that I must really work on. The approval style determines that someone is friendly all the time and that is something that I am not. I will need to improve on that if I plan on advancing in my career. By improving in that area I can do simple things like greet everyone with a smile. While having conversations with colleagues I can be a little more welcoming. I can try not to be so abrupt when having these conversations.
My personal styles of self-actualizing have a strong impact on my management style. For example when planning a task to be completed by others I must include them in on the planning. I cannot plan the task alone I must take advice from others and listen to their input. When organizing a fund raiser with I must not take control over the whole fund
