Macbeth Paper
In the play Macbeth, Lady Macbeth shows that she has Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder is having anxiety attacks over a past experience. These attacks can be actions such as repeated motions, flashbacks of an incident, or anxiety through an experience daily. Lady Macbeth is best described as a person who convinced her husband to kill King Duncan for power. Lady Macbeth shows that she suffers from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder because of the repeated action of washing her hands, having trouble sleeping, and being closely analyzed by doctors then being called “spiritually Ill.”
In the play Macbeth, Lady Macbeth convinced her husband to kill King Duncan. This action gave Lady Macbeth guilt and paranoia. Day after day Lady Macbeth felt worse about what she and her husband did. Guilt and Paranoia are some of the main symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. In Act 5 Scene 1, Lady Macbeth walks in her sleep. “I have two nights watched with you but can perceive no truth in your report. When was it she last walked?” The doctor said as he observed Lady Macbeth sleep walking. Also in Act 5 Scene 1, Lady Macbeth was repeatedly washing her hands. The Gentlewoman stated “It is an accustomed action with her to seem thus washing her hands.” This shows that other people are noticing how odd Lady Macbeth is acting due to Post-Traumatic Stress disorder. Lastly, in Act 5 Scene 3 the doctors notice how strange Lady Macbeth is
