1. Time Period: Pre-1900

a. Copy and paste the survivorship curve for Pre-1900 below with males and females on the same graph. Graph should have title and correctly labeled axes.

b. Discussion of Pre-1900 graph (in complete sentences). What survivorship curve does the males and females follow? What general trends to you see in the graph on age intervals that are more likely to die/survive? Differences in survivorship between the sexes? What about the time period could explain the survivorships that you see for the age intervals and the sexes?

In the graph there is a high rate of survivorship with in children, which represents a Type 1 curve. Female’s survivorship was higher than males dropping at ages 80-89, unlike males who dropped at 70-79. This could be due to the lack of medical attention/ knowledge during the pre-1900.

Both males and females have the same higher rates within children which represent a Type 1 curve. Males again have a lower survival rate dropping at 80-89 than females who drop at 90-99. This result could still be due to the low level of medicine advancement, which could help the prevention of disease. Also men…
