The Mexican - American war or as people in Mexico would like to call it “The U.S. invasion” happened between 1846 and 1848. Leading up to the war the US annexed Texas, mobilized the US army, Mexico didn't like that the US was doing this, so they invaded their territory, and killed 16 US soldiers. The Mexican American war was unjustifiable because of the annexation of Texas and mobilization of the US army. The US decided to annex Texas, and to Mexico. This was unforgivable for legal, and security reasons. The US army was mobilized, which was basically an attack on Mexico. According to an article in the daily El Tiempo, the text stated, “The American government acted like a bandit who came upon a traveler” the text also states, “Certainly Mexico might just charge our citizens with disgraceful robbery while in seeking extension of slavery, our own citizens denied the great truths of American freedom,” This quote proves that the mobilization of the US army was just an attack on Mexico. The mobilization of the US army is when the army moves around and gets ready for war. Because of this, I can see how Mexico would be intimidated and think that that was an attack. Mexico has not done much wrong, but the US almost attacked Mexico. This is another reason why I still believe the war is unjustifiable. Although I think the war was unjustifiable, I can see how some might think the war could be justifiable instead. According to a war message from President James Polk, the text says, “Mexico has passed the boundary of the United States, has invaded our territory and shed American blood upon the American soil.” This quote shows that Mexico did invade US territory and killed a small number of soldiers, this could be a reason why the war was
