The Most Dangerous Game “Beware of false knowledge it is more dangerous than ignorance.” This implies that the things you thought you knew, you actually didn’t know. The theme of this story is to treat others the way you want to be treated because next thing you know, you will be in their situation. Also to not judge a book by it’s cover. Rainsford has external conflicts, also has an internal conflict, and the setting is the main outcome for Rainsford to win. Rainsford has external conflicts by nature and General Zaroff. He was against nature because he was in the jungle for three days straight,in the heat, he had to find his way around the jungle, while General Zaroff already knew the jungle, also Rainsford had to stay away from the Death Swamp, it’s quicksand. I know this because Zaroff tells Rainsford , “ I’ll cheerfully acknowledge myself defeat if I do not find you by midnight of the third night.” This is evidence because on page 17, General Zaroff says,“ I suggest, too, that you avoid the big swamp in the southeast corner of the island. We call it Death Swamp. There’s quicksand there.” Rainsford is basically being the animal and General Zaroff is the hunter. Rainsford had to hold his breath and was telling himself, not to lose his nerves. The author states this on page 17,“ Then it was that Rainsford knew the full meaning of terror. I will not lose my nerve. I will not.” Rainsford finally knew what General Zaroff was capable of. Rainsford had to think out of his comfort zone, to end the hunt. This relates to the theme because Zaroff didn’t treat anyone right. Later on, in the end General Zaroff, figures out that he was the animal, and Rainsford was the
