I stumbled into nursing as a second career after not finding my fit in previous careers. My passion for nursing grew each day in nursing school and as a bedside nurse but it truly caught fire when I talked to nurse anesthetists as they would visit my unit. When these nurse anesthetists would speak about leading a code, helping a fractious mother in the labor suite, or soothing a child for anesthesia induction I was entranced. The work they described was so compelling to me that I knew it was my path.
