Narrative Comparison The data that I have acquired was the temperatures of June from both the year of 2013 and 2014. From the graphical and numerical summaries that I have obtained, I have noticed that the temperatures in the year of 2014 is greater than the temperatures in the year of 2013. This can be proven by the various graphs that are used to display the comparison of the data set. Viewing the back to back stem and leaf plot, one can view that in 2013 the temperatures were all clustered in the 80’s, whereas in 2014 most of the temperatures were in the upper 80’s and lower 90’s. This concludes that in 2014 the temperatures were higher than the temperatures in 2013. Another evidence that supports this statement is by viewing the box plots which displays the five number summary (minimum, first quartile, median, third quartile, maximum). In this figures, the median in 2014 was comparably higher than the median in 2013. The median in 2014 was 87, which means that half of the temperatures were higher than 87 and half of the temperatures were lower. However, the median in 2013 was 84.5, therefore showing that the temperatures in 2013 had lower temperatures than 2014. All the observations in the five number summary in 2014 were respectably higher than the observations in 2013. The side by side boxplots and the histograms are the best graphs used to compare these data observations. This is because the histogram groups the values together and clearly graphs the distribution so…

Resentment: Self-Inflicted and Self-Cured
Overcoming an obstacle doesn't mean that certain events have to stop occurring so that it's classified as overcome. I was once told, “Life is ten percent what happens to you and ninety percent how you respond to it.” I believe that to be 100% correct. I was raised in a culture where the man of the family, the father, the husband, holds the utmost authority and responsibility…
The transition of a high school student to a college undergraduate is a life-changing experience that most youths go through. The course that led to this transformative event began on the first day I entered high school. Attending a technical school for four years was the best decision I could have made. It prepared me for the real world while simultaneously providing me with the skills needed for college. My first year in high school was like moving into a new city and trying to…
A couple of years ago, I was mowing the lawn in my grandmother’s backyard. It was extremely hot and the sun was beating down relentlessly. Then all of a sudden, I spotted an object under the six inches of grass. I picked up the faded pink object only to discover that is was a monkey. Not a real monkey, but one of those monkeys from those Barrels of Monkeys. At that moment when I first realized that it was a monkey, I immediately thought of my grandfather…

In the narrative, Shooting an Elephant, George Orwell shares his personal experience of a moral challenge he has faced. Orwell was an officer in a poverty infested place called Burma and was hated by many of its citizens. Burmese people saw him as an evil white imperialist. But one day, when a raging elephant tore through the Burmese town the citizens looked towards Orwell with burning eyes that persuaded him to shoot the beast. Every inch of Orwell’s body…
shows us that Huck has really thought through his plan to leave, since he is able to list to the reader all the things that he is going to do as he goes through with his escape from Pap.
Another thing that both Catcher and Huck have is the use of a narrative voice for both characters, as both texts are in the 1st person. We are able to see this as both Twain and Salinger use pronouns such as ‘I’ and ‘me’. This allows the reader to hear their voice in their head and this means that we are hearing their…
