In order to truly address the issues of noneffective workfare and the need for welfare reform, the effects of neoliberalism and capitalism must be critically analyzed. Workfare valuable work policy theory however, given the current economic and political state it is utopian in nature. The greater economic and political conflicts that determine the future growth of our current welfare state need to be considered in order for society to make a conscious choice for the future. Government must again take responsibility for continued job creation. Political influence from social democratic parties or parties against neoliberalism should be investigated and labour unions must rally to fight for the marginalized whose voices are silenced by the elite.
