Nothing Gold Can Stay by Robert Frost is about how life/nature is constantly changing and there is nothing we can do to stop it. Abandoned Farmhouse by Ted Kooser is about a family who had to abandon their home because of a tragedy. These two poems are the same because they both have the theme change and they both have alliteration. However, these two poems are different because they have different topics and one rhymes and the other poem use personification.

These two poems are alike in many ways. One way they are the same is they both have the theme of change. In Nothing Gold Can Stay, the poem says, “but only so an hour”. This shows change because it means change in a short amount of time. Similarly, in Abandoned Farmhouse, it states, “something went wrong, says the empty house”. One way they are different is they have different topics. In Nothing Gold Can Stay, the poem says, “nature’s first green is gold ”. This shows the poem is about nature because it has the word “nature” in the line. On the other hand, in Abandoned Farmhouse, it states, “a woman lived with him says the bedroom wall papered with lilacs”. This show the poem is about a family because the part of the quote said “a woman lived with him” that means she lived with someone. Another way they are different, is one poem rhymes and the other one use personification. In Nothing Gold Can Stay, the line”her early leaf’s a flower; but only so an hour” shows rhyming because flower and hour rhymes. However , in Abandoned Farmhouse this line, “says the length of the bed” shows personification because bed can’t talk.
