O Brother Where Art Thou? was a movie released in 2000, directed by Ethan and Joel Coen. Although the film was not originally supposed to be based on The Odyssey, Joel Coen has said, “It just sort of occurred to us after we’d gotten into it somewhat that it was a story about someone going home, and sort of episodic in nature and it kind of evolved into that.” Even though the story of the film is not very similar to The Odyssey, there are many parts that have largely derived from it.
