What is a genuine friendship? What defines a friendship? Can friendship turn into something deeper beyond the literal understanding of friendship? The answers to this series of questions may differ from person to person and affect by time to time. The meaning of the friendship is constantly changing in different stages of life. As we advance through life, it’s common for us to drift apart from our friends. Looking at the bright side, a comedy named “The Odd Couple “written by Neil Simon, due to its wide fame, later turned into a film on 1968 was a huge boom on the American comedy based on friendship. This film reveals the devoted friendship that eventually extending to family level of two men Felix and Oscar through countless quarrels, but ends with peaceful reconciliation. The film begins with Felix being thrown out by his wife and attempts to kill himself by jumping out the window, but the feeling of fear overcomes him and he could take the step. On the other side, Oscar, while playing pokers with his friends, heard Felix went missing and didn’t show up on work neither did he come …show more content…
All these small details built up to where friendship sometimes transcend the family relationship. By saying that, audiences are able to comprehend the deeper behind the friendship from slovenly Oscar and detailed Felix in a humorous means. Instead of portraying the true friendship like many other films, The Odd Couple depicts the profound meaning of friendship with two friends living together and learned from each other, and as a result of that, friendship is no longer exist, and it eventually turns into a family relationship.
