I talked with my parents, and found out the reason behind why they decided to name me Madeline, and it’s really not too elaborate. According to my mother, she wanted me to have a traditional name, not a “trendy” one. She came across the name in a book, and my mom says she instantly fell in love with it. My mom also said that she loved how it could be spelled out long, or shortened to Maddie, so that as I got older I would have two choices. Also, she liked how it sounded with my middle name, which is Louise. My dad on the other hand wanted to name me Holly, because he liked that it was short, and he thought it was pretty. Obviously, my mother won that battle, and we now have a dog named Holly.
According to many different websites my name originates mostly from France, and partially from England and Greece. I knew that the name Madeline was much more popular in France and England, but it really surprised me when I saw it also originates from Greece.

It’s hard for me to imagine me with any other name. Like my mom, I like that I can spell my name out long, or short. Also, I’m glad my mom liked the name “Madeline” better than the name “Madison”, because there are too many other Madisons in the world, and I’ve never met another Madeline, but I know of five Madisons. I also looked up my name’s personality definition and it’s crazy accurate. For example, part of the definition said that I would excel in artistic, dramatic, and musical expression. I’ve always loved to draw and I’ve always been decent at it, I have been involved in theater and acting since the beginning of 7th grade, I have played the guitar for almost six years, and I’ve been involved with choir and singing ever since I was in a children’s choir at UNI when my family lived in Cedar Falls.
